HEART PINE SELECT
pinus palustris
Used to build the industrial revolution, Longleaf Yellow Pine was said to have been the south’s best kept secret. It was used in almost every industry from shipbuilding to making payments to rebuilding cities after the great fires. This wood was very desirable for its structural strength and integrity and durability.
It was almost entirely wiped out but is now mostly found from reclaiming old buildings. This wood has the warmest tones and feelings that can liven up any room in the house. We offer three grades; clear vertical grain (CVG), select plank, Mill Run and Select.
Select grade contains 90% hardwood and has a cathedral grain pattern. The color appearance is mostly uniform but has minor variations in the grain. Some of its characteristics include: flame or cathedral grain pattern, small knots, occasional nail hole, minor distress patterns.
